'Carrier Pidge' is an app that lets you send messages using a virtual pigeon.

An app called ' Carrier Pidge ' has been released that doesn't send messages instantly, but instead sends them over time via a virtual carrier pigeon. The delivery time varies depending on the user's actual location, and the pigeon apparently sometimes gets lost.

Carrier Pidge is an app that sends messages via a virtual pigeon traveling at approximately 177 km/h. The transmission time is determined by the user's actual location, which is accessed via GPS; the further the sender and recipient are, the longer it will take to arrive. For example, the straight-line distance between Osaka and Tokyo is approximately 400 km, and sending a message using this app would take more than two hours. Furthermore, there is always a ±25% variation in speed, making it impossible to accurately predict the transmission time.

Furthermore, there's a 0.2% chance that the virtual pigeon will get lost, and the message will be lost permanently.
The app allows you to see the pigeons moving across the map in real time.
Spent 3 weeks building a texting app slower than email. Messages fly at pigeon speed — LA to NYC takes 22 hrs. Sometimes the bird dies & the message isn't delivered. pic.twitter.com/MwHcldFr0Y

Developer Noah Iarrobino spent about three weeks completing the app. Iarrobino stated, 'This app is actually useless.'
There is another app called ' Roost ' that uses the concept of 'birds delivering messages.' There is also an app called ' Slowly ' with the simple concept of 'delivering messages slowly.'
