When Claude joins Slack, he can read conversations within permitted threads, understand the flow of the conversation, and respond accordingly. Furthermore, by granting Claude permissions, he can autonomously perform tasks such as reading files. Unlike using Claude Code alone, he can track the activities of all users participating in Slack conversations and respond to requests from all users.

In addition to responding to requests, Claude can also proactively take on tasks that have been left unattended.

Anthropic already has an internal version of Claude Tag running, and 65% of their product team's code is written using Claude Tag. Slack was the first app to be supported because Anthropic uses Slack internally, and they plan to support other apps in the future.
At the time of writing, Claude Tag is in beta and is available to Enterprise and Team plan subscribers.
