I tried shooting a vlog-style walking video with the Osmo Pocket 4, a small camera that can shoot stable, shake-free videos while walking. (Review)

The Osmo Pocket 4 is a compact camera that was released on April 22, 2026. Its main feature is the built-in 'gimbal,' which keeps the camera in a horizontal and stable position no matter how much the device is moved, allowing you to shoot videos with minimal shake even while walking. The GIGAZINE editorial department received an Osmo Pocket 4, so we took it outside to see what kind of videos it could actually shoot.

I tried filming myself walking through the shopping street in front of the train station using the Osmo Pocket 4. It's difficult to keep the camera at the same angle when filming while walking, but with the Osmo Pocket 4, the camera angle automatically adjusts, allowing you to shoot stable videos.

I also walked down a narrow street lined with izakayas (Japanese pubs). The lens has a focal length of 20mm (35mm equivalent). It can capture a wider area than a typical smartphone's standard camera, but narrower than an ultra-wide-angle camera. Because it can capture a wide range, you can shoot walking videos that convey the atmosphere of your surroundings simply by 'strolling around with the camera in hand' without worrying too much about composition.

The Osmo Pocket 4 can shoot clear videos even in low-light environments such as outdoors at night. Below is the result of shooting a night road illuminated by streetlights and apartment building lights.

I was able to take photos even on dimly lit streets with few streetlights. It can record quite brightly even in low-light environments. Older cameras tend to produce noise when shooting in bright conditions, but with the Osmo Pocket 4, the noise is hardly noticeable at all.

The Osmo Pocket 4 can focus on objects more than 0.2m away from the sensor, but it will lose focus if the subject is closer than 0.2m. To give you an idea of how far it can focus, we took some photos of dishes on a table at ' Nepal Restaurant Bar Pipal, ' a restaurant near our editorial office. It focuses without any problems at a distance where you can 'take a picture of the entire dish on the table or the overall view of each side dish while sitting in a chair.' On the other hand, it cannot handle close-up shots of the ingredients in the side dishes.

After actually using the Osmo Pocket 4, I found that it was able to shoot clear videos in both bright and dark conditions. It consistently captures stable video even while walking around, making it highly recommended for purposes such as 'recording everyday life' or 'capturing the atmosphere of travel destinations.'

The Osmo Pocket 4 is available from the official online store and Amazon.co.jp, among others. On Amazon.co.jp, the Essential Combo is available for ¥77,660 (tax included), and the Creator Combo, which includes a tripod and carrying bag, is available for ¥99,880 (tax included).
