ChatGPT announced a new feature called 'Scheduled tasks' that allows users to pre-assign future tasks, while simultaneously discontinuing 'Pulse,' a service that compiled daily information for users.

On June 18, 2026, OpenAI announced 'Scheduled tasks' as a new feature for ChatGPT, which allows users to automatically execute scheduled tasks. Along with this, they also announced that 'Pulse,' a feature that provides daily summaries of user interests and past chats, would be discontinued later that month.

ChatGPT Pulse is a feature that launched in September 2025, providing pre-researched information from ChatGPT at a set time each day. The information provided includes a summary of the chat history, items that the user has been asked to research, and the latest information based on linked apps such as calendars. Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, said, 'Pulse represents the future of ChatGPT that I believe in. It's a shift from being completely reactive to being significantly proactive and highly personalized.'
Today we are launching my favorite feature of ChatGPT so far, called Pulse. It is initially available to Pro subscribers.

On June 18, 2026, Pulse announced that it would be shutting down within the next 14 days.
We're also sunsetting Pulse in the next 14 days, but you can keep getting daily updates—use scheduled tasks to get a daily briefing based on your interests, past chats, and connected apps.

The new feature that replaced Pulse is 'Scheduled Tasks.' You can create task schedules by opening 'Scheduled' from the ChatGPT sidebar.

For example, by entering 'I'm going to Tokyo Station at this time tomorrow, so please recommend some lunch and souvenirs' and selecting the execution date and time, ChatGPT will process your request at the set time the next day and provide you with the latest information at that time. In addition, you can also create tasks in ChatGPT by linking it with other apps, such as 'Summarize emails when they arrive' or 'Notify me when my package arrives.'
Additionally, by turning on desktop notification settings, a pop-up will appear at the time scheduled for your tasks to run.

Pulse will be discontinued, but Scheduled Tasks is an expanded version of Pulse, so you can use it in the same way as the original Pulse by setting up Scheduled Tasks to 'summarize chat history at this time every day.'
Scheduled Tasks is available in the web and mobile versions of ChatGPT for Go, Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users.
