There are companies that have increased revenue per employee by 50% by implementing AI.

AI companies like OpenAI promote the idea that 'implementing AI can improve operational efficiency and profitability,' but it's difficult to imagine exactly how AI will be useful in practice.

Remote is a company that develops payroll and employee management tools, and its products are used by over 100 organizations, including Anthropic and KFC. On May 14, 2026, it was reported that 'the payroll business has grown by 300% year-on-year, and annual revenue has exceeded $300 million (approximately 48 billion yen).'

Remote CEO Job van der Voort told TechCrunch that 'by having employees in every department of the company adopt AI, we have succeeded in increasing revenue per employee by more than 50%.' According to van der Voort, Remote employees develop apps that use AI to improve work processes and publish them on 'Remote Lab,' the company's internal app distribution platform.
Furthermore, van der Voort himself continues to develop apps using Claude Code, and says that he always has 'five Claude Code instances running on the secondary screen of his laptop, and even when he's not touching his PC, such as during interviews, Claude Code continues to build something.'
Marcelo Lebre, co-founder of Remote, also mentioned using AI to improve work efficiency on X. Remote had a contract for a certain service for $60,000 (approximately 9.6 million yen), but employees built a replacement in just 3 hours and 17 minutes, leading to the termination of the service contract. The cost of developing the replacement was only $216 (approximately 35,000 yen).
We canceled a $60,000 contract this year because someone on the @remote team built the replacement in an afternoon.

Remote actively incorporates AI not only into internal tools but also into product development, resulting in a more than 60% increase in code submissions from software engineers over the past year. In the last month, the AI generation rate of submitted code has reportedly exceeded 85%.
In response to the efficiency gains from AI, Remote has scaled back its hiring plans. However, it has not yet laid off any staff. Van der Voort says that they are developing their business plans from the perspective of 'Do we really need to increase staff? Or should we dedicate time to improving the skills of existing employees so that they can utilize AI tools and invest more money in AI?'
