According to a memo from Meta's Chief Human Resources Officer obtained by Bloomberg, the affected employees will be moved to several new groups that will focus on AI-related products such as AI agents and AI apps. The officer reportedly wrote, 'We believe the new corporate structure will be flatter and involve smaller teams, which will improve our productivity and make our work more rewarding.'

Meta plans to cut approximately 8,000 jobs starting May 20, 2026. This is reportedly due to increased costs from investments in AI and the need to improve operational efficiency, and the company will not be hiring the 6,000 new employees it had initially planned.
