The man had previously purchased Bitcoin for $250, but after changing his Bitcoin wallet password while smoking marijuana, he forgot it and was unable to access his wallet for 11 years. During that time, the value of the Bitcoin he held had ballooned to approximately $400,000 (about 63 million yen).
The man tested over 3 trillion passwords using password cracking tools, but to no avail. He also found a passphrase he had recorded in his college notebook, but it was from before he changed his password, so it was useless for his current wallet.

However, when the man asked Claude to crack his password, Claude analyzed the files the man provided and unearthed an old wallet file that appeared to have been created before the password change. The man was able to decrypt the file using his old passphrase and successfully recover the same private key that was being used for his current wallet.
Incidentally, the password the man set while high was apparently 'lol420fuckthePOLICE!*:)'.
The man thanked Anthropic and CEO Dario Amodi, even saying he would name his child after CEO Amodi.
