Spotify introduces verified artist badges to distinguish between humans and AI.

Spotify has stated that 'in the age of AI, being able to trust the authenticity of the music you listen to is more important than ever,' and has announced the launch of ' Verified by Spotify, ' a designation that will only be given to people who have passed a rigorous screening process.
Introducing Verified by Spotify, a Signal of Authenticity and Trust for the Artists Behind the Music — Spotify
The 'Verified by Spotify' badge is awarded when an artist's profile has been reviewed and determined to meet Spotify's standards of authenticity and trustworthiness.
To receive a badge, artists must demonstrate their existence both on and off the platform by including links to concert dates, merchandise, and social media accounts in their profile. At launch, profiles that are primarily perceived as representing AI-generated or AI-based artists will not be verified, but Spotify states that 'the concept of artist authenticity is complex and rapidly evolving, and we will continue to develop our approach.'
Furthermore, only artists that listeners are actively and intentionally seeking out, rather than those who are experiencing a temporary surge in popularity, will be considered for the review process. Spotify states that 'these criteria will allow us to conduct a thorough review of millions of artist profiles.'
The new badge will roll out within weeks of the announcement and will be indicated by the text 'Verified by Spotify' and a light green checkmark icon next to the artist's name. At launch, it will verify over 99% of artists that Spotify listeners actively search for, covering hundreds of thousands of artists.

Spotify stated, 'Because there are millions of contributors and artists on our platform, we continuously review and verify them to ensure accuracy and consistency. Just because an artist profile does not currently display a badge does not mean that they will not be awarded one in the future.'
Additionally, a new section will be introduced to all artist profiles, regardless of their 'Verified by Spotify' status, allowing for the highlighting of important information such as career milestones, releases, and tour activities. This detail can serve as a signal of authenticity for artists who do not meet the 'Verified by Spotify' criteria.
The new section will appear in the 'About' section of artist profiles on mobile devices in the coming weeks, and verified artists can also find it by clicking the 'Verified by Spotify' banner.

Spotify stated, 'In a complex and rapidly evolving environment, we don't expect everything to be perfect from day one. This new authentication program has been carefully designed with both listeners and artists in mind, and we will continue to improve it. Our goal is to help you build long-term, meaningful connections with the artists and music you love by making it easier to trust and understand the human creative process behind the music you listen to on Spotify.'
