Apple has announced its financial results for the second quarter of fiscal year 2026. For the second quarter of fiscal year 2026, Apple's revenue was $111.2 billion, up 17% year-over-year; operating profit was $35.9 billion (approximately 5.64 trillion yen), up 21% year-over-year; and net profit was $29.6 billion (approximately 4.65 trillion yen), up 19% year-over-year.

The breakdown of sales is as follows: products increased 17% year-on-year to $80.2 billion (approximately 12.61 trillion yen), and services increased 17% year-on-year to $31 billion (approximately 4.87 trillion yen). Breaking down the sales of the product division in more detail, iPhones increased 22% year-on-year to $57 billion (approximately 8.95 trillion yen), Macs increased 6% year-on-year to $8.4 billion (approximately 1.32 trillion yen), iPads increased 8% year-on-year to $6.9 billion (approximately 1.08 trillion yen), and Wearables, Home & Accessories increased 5% year-on-year to $7.9 billion (approximately 1.24 trillion yen).

Furthermore, Apple recorded its highest-ever second-quarter revenue for the fiscal year 2026, with CEO Tim Cook stating, 'We achieved double-digit growth in all regions.' According to Cook, exceptional demand for the iPhone 17 series, in particular, boosted sales. The services division also achieved record-high revenue in the second quarter of fiscal year 2026.

While strong performance was driven by iPhone and services sales, Mac sales have also quietly grown thanks to increasing AI demand. Prior to the earnings announcement, investors had expected Mac sales to be roughly flat compared to the same period last year. However, in reality, they recorded a 6% increase year-on-year.

Apple cites the new MacBook Neo, announced in early March 2026, as one of the reasons for the increase in Mac sales. CEO Tim Cook mentioned that customer demand for the MacBook Neo was 'extraordinary,' far exceeding Apple's expectations. He also explained that the number of new Mac customers reached an all-time high in the second quarter of fiscal year 2026.

The financial results for the second quarter of fiscal year 2026 will be released on March 28th, with pre-orders for the MacBook Neo starting on March 4th and the release date on March 11th. Furthermore, since some models of the MacBook Neo sold out immediately after release, technology media outlet TechCrunch points out that some of the demand may have been delayed until April or later.

CEO Tim Cook cited increased demand for Macs as a platform for running local AI models like OpenClaw as a factor in the rise in Mac sales. 'Both the Mac mini and Mac Studio are fantastic platforms for AI agent tools, and their recognition has grown faster than we expected, with demand exceeding our expectations,' he said.

Meanwhile, many models of the Mac mini and Mac Studio are out of stock. Regarding this, CEO Tim Cook said it will take several more months for the supply and demand for the Mac mini and Mac Studio to balance out, suggesting that supply will be limited for some time. Cook said, 'I don't think the supply limitations (for the Mac mini and Mac Studio) will be resolved anytime soon. There's nothing particularly wrong with it; we simply underestimated the demand.'

In fact, Apple has stated that several major companies, including Perplexity, have chosen Macs as the platform for building AI assistants for their businesses.
