Iranian media reports that 'American companies used backdoors to disable network equipment.'

Iran's Fars news agency reported that when the US attacks Iran occurred, there were unusual occurrences, such as the sudden shutdown of US network equipment used within Iran. Fars suggests that some kind of internal mechanism may have been activated, as Iran has cut off communication with the outside world.
According to Fars News, Cisco, Juniper, and Fortinet hardware simultaneously and unexpectedly shut down at the same time as the US attack on Isfahan, and products using the router OS 'MikroTik OS' also crashed, among other unusual events. MikroTik is a company based in Latvia, while the others are based in the United States.
Fars News Agency pointed out that Iran has cut off its international network, so it wasn't simply a cyberattack from abroad. They argued that a backdoor might have been installed inside the equipment in the first place.

FALS Communications cited several possibilities, including that the devices may have been disabled by receiving specific satellite signals or activating internal timers, or that they were disabled by being triggered by the disruption of the international internet or the reception of specific code on the internal network, or that someone may have installed a backdoor during the manufacturing process. They stated, 'Building the core of cybersecurity on devices whose circuit design and source code are in the hands of potential adversaries is dangerous. Nations that cannot develop their own routers, switches, and network operating systems will always be one step behind their enemies in cyber warfare.'
Furthermore, sources in the cybersecurity field stated that 'additional technical information and evidence showing that the manufacturer of the problematic equipment is directly or indirectly collaborating with the United States and Zionist forces is expected to be released soon by an Iranian cyber research institute.'

According to the internet monitoring group NetBlocks, Iran's internet connectivity has remained at only about 1% of normal levels since the attacks by the United States and Israel.
