Haagen-Dazs Matcha Sandwich 'The Green Tea' Taste Test Review: The bitterness of the matcha and the sweetness of the ice cream are a great match.

Haagen-Dazs' Crispy Sandwich series will be adding ' The Green Tea ,' a matcha ice cream and matcha wafer, on April 7th, 2026 (Tuesday). It is said to be a matcha ice cream dessert that allows you to enjoy the deep aroma and richness of matcha along with a crisp and crunchy texture. I had the opportunity to try it a little early, so I checked out what it tastes like.

This is what The Green Tea's packaging looks like. It also has an image of matcha and white chocolate printed on it.

The reverse side features a vertically oriented illustration.

The package contained one serving of The Green Tea.

This is The Green Tea. It's matcha ice cream sandwiched between matcha wafers.

The matcha ice cream is covered in a white chocolate coating, allowing the matcha ice cream inside to show through, revealing a pale green color.

The cross-section looks like this.

Overall, it's sweet, but the balance is such that you can really taste the bitterness of the matcha. The main flavor is matcha, with the white chocolate coating being less prominent. The contrast in textures is delightful, with a crisp surface followed by the crunchy white chocolate coating, and finally the smooth, rich matcha ice cream.

The Green Tea is scheduled to be released on April 7, 2026, and like The Rich Caramel, it will be a year-round staple product.
