Israeli private intelligence firm 'Black Cube' is being heavily criticized by the Slovenian ruling party for allegedly being involved in election manipulation, with some also pointing to involvement by the opposition.

Regarding the Slovenian general election held on March 22, 2026, Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golov accused the Israeli private intelligence company Black Cube of attempting to overthrow the current government, calling it foreign interference in the election.

A few days before the election, a website titled 'To the Anti-Corruption Commission' appeared, with no information about its operators. It released secretly filmed footage of lobbyists, lawyers, and former ministers associated with Prime Minister Golov's Freedom Movement Party speaking about illegal lobbying and misuse of public funds.

This website became a hot topic as a major scandal that shook the credibility of the current government, but the situation changed dramatically when the Slovenian weekly magazine 'Mladina' and the non-governmental organization 'March 8th Institute' conducted an investigation and published a report suggesting that the Israeli private intelligence company 'Black Cube' was involved and that the main opposition party, the Democratic Party of Slovenia, may have had ties to Black Cube.
The investigation team did not claim that the website was created by Black Cube or any Slovenian Democratic Party members. However, based on similarities to past cases, the team pointed to the possibility that the website may be linked to Black Cube.
The investigation was prompted by an unofficial report that Slovenian Democratic Party leader Yanes Janša had met with several Israelis at the party headquarters. The investigative team used flight information to determine that Black Cube CEO Dan Zorella and others were visiting Israel on the day the meeting allegedly took place.
The research team further pointed out that this case and the operations Black Cube deployed before the Hungarian general elections in 2018 and 2022 share many similarities, not merely in the methods, but as being essentially identical operations involving the same stages, the same duration, and the same information dissemination logic.

Black Cube is a company founded in 2010, led by CEO Zorella, a former Israeli intelligence officer, and advised by prominent former Israeli intelligence officials such as Meir Dagan, former head of Mossad (Israeli intelligence agency), and Ephraim Halevi.
Black Cube conducts intelligence gathering, including undercover operations, and is known for cases such as the alleged hiring of Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein, who was convicted of sexual assault, to spy on journalists and female whistleblowers, and the indictment by Romanian prosecutors of Black Cube members, including CEO Zorella, on charges of espionage against government officials.
Jansha, who was suspected of having ties to the Black Cube, denied the allegations, stating, 'If they really exposed corruption on an unimaginable scale, then a monument honoring them should be erected in the heart of the capital, Ljubljana.'
Furthermore, the Democratic Party of Slovenia has stated that it is 'preparing criminal and damage lawsuits against those who made false accusations.'

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Golov supported reports that Israeli companies had tampered with the elections, stating, 'Considering who commissioned and who carried it out, we consider this a serious interference with the very foundations of European democracy. Any attempt by foreign powers to interfere in elections is unacceptable.'
The Slovenian Intelligence and Security Service is also investigating the matter, stating that 'we have presented members of the National Security Council's operations group with physical evidence showing that three representatives of Black Cube visited the headquarters of the Democratic Party of Slovenia. We have also presented the results of our investigation into Black Cube's activities both inside and outside Slovenia, which we believe support intelligence activities against Slovenia and foreign interference in Slovenian elections.' According to the head of the agency, 'it is most likely that this interference was requested from within Slovenia.'

Atia Schatz, an Israeli intelligence officer, stated, 'Even if there was foreign involvement, it was purely private. It would be a leap to assert that this operation was state-sponsored without concrete evidence. We must not forget the nature of the black cube. They are private companies whose primary objective is profit, and they work for whoever pays them. The most important thing in this case is who hired them and who paid for them.'
Separately, there are also reports that someone based in Israel is conducting information operations in local elections in France.
In the election held on the 22nd, the Liberal Party won 29 seats and the Conservative Party won 28 seats, and Prime Minister Golov declared victory. However, it is said that the government could change depending on the outcome of coalition negotiations with other parties.
