However, on February 13, Disney sent a notice to ByteDance stating that Dreamina Seedance 2.0 should be discontinued . Disney accused ByteDance of 'packaging a pirated library of Disney characters as training data.'

ByteDance had planned to roll out Dreamina Seedance 2.0 worldwide in mid-March 2026, but it was reported that the global launch would be postponed following allegations of copyright infringement.

However, on March 26th local time, ByteDance announced the release of Dreamina Seedance 2.0 on its video editing tool, CapCut. CapCut stated, 'As a phased rollout for paid CapCut users, Dreamina Seedance 2.0 will first be available to select users in Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brazil, and Mexico, and will be rolled out gradually thereafter.'

TechCrunch, a technology media outlet, suggested that the reason why Dreamina Seedance 2.0 is only available in certain countries through CapCut is likely due to allegations of copyright infringement related to Dreamina Seedance 2.0.

Meanwhile, OpenAI announced it would discontinue its video generation AI app 'Sora' following a series of copyright infringement allegations and requests from industry groups. ByteDance's policy of releasing Dreamina Seedance 2.0, even if only in a limited number of countries, goes against OpenAI's approach.
