Apple is revamping Siri from a voice assistant to an AI agent, and will also be releasing a standalone Siri app.

It has been revealed that Apple is planning to revamp Siri, transforming it from a simple voice assistant into a system-wide AI agent integrated into the OS. As part of this plan, testing of the Siri app is expected to begin on iPhones, iPads, and Macs in the second half of 2026.
iOS 27 Features: Apple AI Reboot With Siri App, New Interface, 'Ask Siri' Button - Bloomberg

Apple could give Siri a standalone app and an 'Ask Siri' button in iOS 27

This was revealed by Mark Gurman, a Bloomberg reporter with extensive knowledge of Apple, citing an anonymous source.
According to Gurman, Apple is working on rebuilding its AI platform, centered around Siri, with the goal of evolving Siri from a mere voice assistant into a system-wide AI agent.
The new Siri, codenamed 'Campo,' is designed to give you better control over the functions of your iPhone and Mac, and to use your personal data, such as messages, notes, and emails, to process requests. You can also complete tasks within apps, access news content, and search the internet.
The most important point highlighted was that it would allow for chat-style interaction through text and voice, representing a departure from the current Siri, which lacks conversational capabilities.

As part of its plans for 'Campo,' Apple is expected to test a standalone 'Siri' app on iPhone, iPad, and Mac in the second half of 2026.
The Siri app displays past conversations in a list or grid format, allowing you to save older conversations and pin favorites. The conversations look similar to the threaded format of a messaging app, and include a toggle switch to turn voice mode on and off, as well as an icon for attaching files.
It seems that activating Siri via the power button or voice commands will not become impossible; the interface will be updated while the traditional activation methods will be maintained.
