OpenClaw is an AI agent framework that can automate various tasks through PC operations and smartphone integration. OpenClaw has become explosively popular, mainly in China, and has been reported to be used to 'raise lobsters.' In Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, a city known for its high technology, various Chinese companies have released tools to support the implementation of OpenClaw, and services to help with new OpenClaw setups are being offered on the streets.

According to Tencent, WeChat ClawBot will allow users to complete actions such as transferring files, sending emails, analyzing data, and making reservations directly on the WeChat screen, instead of having to launch search engines and document tools separately.

This move suggests that while competitors like Alibaba and Baidu are leading in LLM (Large-Scale Language Model) capabilities, Tencent is strengthening its strategy of embedding agent AI into everyday apps. With Alibaba announcing Wukong, which coordinates complex business processes, and Baidu announcing agent products for smart homes and mobile devices based on OpenClaw, AI agents have become a major battleground among Chinese tech companies.
Tencent positions AI as a key growth engine and plans to double its AI-related capital expenditures in 2026, following an investment of 18 billion yuan (approximately 417 billion yen) in 2025. At the same time, the company acknowledges challenges related to user privacy and ensuring computing power.
