The results of an AI-driven survey of over 80,000 Claude users have been released.

Anthropic, the developer of the AI 'Claude,' has revealed that it conducted a survey of over 80,000 users regarding their hopes and concerns about AI.
What 81,000 people want from AI \ Anthropic
Anthropic used its AI system 'Anthropic Interviewer,' designed for interactive interviews, to conduct a survey of 80,508 users across 159 countries and 70 languages during one week in December 2025.
The Anthropic Interviewer asked each participant a common question about 'what they want and don't want from AI,' and then tailored subsequent questions based on their answers. This provided detailed information on multiple aspects, including what users want from AI, whether those expectations are being met, their concerns, their occupations, and their overall feelings towards AI.
◆What we expect from AI
What users most expected from AI was professional excellence. This meant demanding specialized knowledge from AI, and it has been reported that not only general users but also professionals such as lawyers and accountants have achieved increased work efficiency through AI.

The next most common type of change was personal transformation. This refers to actions such as confiding in others about one's problems or seeking advice on personal matters.
In addition, some users were seen using AI as a business partner or as an instructor.
◆The vision made possible by AI
When asked if they had taken even one step forward toward the vision that AI has set forth, approximately 81% answered 'yes.' When asked for more details, the most common answer was productivity improvement, and it was found that AI is playing an active role in fields such as business and university research.

On the other hand, 18.9% of users reported not getting the results they expected. These users commented, 'People ask questions without making assumptions, but AI doesn't,' 'I told the AI, 'You're too obedient,' and it agreed,' and 'Chatbots are too kind. They just answer the questions I ask. That doesn't improve my thinking skills.'
◆Concerns about AI
The biggest concern users have about AI is its unreliability. Generative AI constantly suffers from hallucination, often presenting false information as fact. Users pointed out things like, 'Please, AI, don't fabricate content,' and 'AI should be able to say two things: 'I don't know' and 'You're wrong.''

The next biggest concern is the impact on employment and the economy. Users who find AI useful report in surveys that they can now use AI to replace jobs they previously outsourced, which means that one less job has been outsourced. In this way, AI is taking over existing jobs, and in fact, situations are occurring where humans are being laid off to replace them with AI. Users lament, 'This must be how the coachmen felt when the automobile age arrived. All the skills they had honed up over the years, such as how to handle horses and maintain wheels, suddenly became useless.'
The survey also revealed regional differences in attitudes towards AI. The following chart shows regional differences in attitudes towards AI, with green indicating strong positive feelings, blue indicating strong negative feelings, and gray indicating a neutral sentiment. The size of the circle is proportional to the number of respondents. South America, Africa, and Southeast Asian countries showed a positive attitude towards AI, while negative views were dominant in the EU. Japan had a large number of neutral users.

Anthropic analyzed, 'There are several possible reasons why there is a strong positive view of AI in low- and middle-income countries. Generally, emerging economies tend to view new technologies not as a threat, but rather as a stepping stone for growth. Concerns about employment and the economy were the strongest predictors of views on AI overall, but these concerns appeared to be relatively less pronounced in low- and middle-income countries. However, because the market penetration rate of AI is also low in these regions, it is possible that AI has not yet been visibly incorporated into daily operations, and examples of AI replacing jobs may seem abstract.'
This survey is definitely worth checking out, as it has gathered a large amount of candid comments from users.
