Independent journalist Alex Heath briefly summarized in his newsletter 'Sources' that an OpenAI spokesperson told him that the release of Adult Mode would be postponed. He added that OpenAI wanted to focus on work that currently prioritizes the most important users, such as providing personalization and proactive user experiences.
ChatGPT's adult mode, as the name suggests, includes adult content in the output. OpenAI has long strictly restricted the filtering of generated content, but in October 2025, it revealed that it plans to implement an adult mode that will allow more content with more strict age restrictions.
