'ChatGPT will enable erotic conversations with verified adult users,' CEO Sam Altman announced.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced on Twitter that the company will relax some of ChatGPT's safety restrictions, making chatbot responses more human-like to make them more approachable for users, and allowing verified adult users to engage in erotic conversations.
We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

'We have imposed some fairly strict restrictions on ChatGPT to carefully address mental health issues,' Altman said. 'We recognize that this has reduced the usefulness and enjoyment of the app for many users who do not have mental health issues, but we prioritized appropriate action given the severity of the issue. Now that we have the ability to mitigate serious mental health issues and new tools, we will be able to relax safety restrictions in most cases.'
According to CEO Altman, they plan to release a new version of ChatGPT no later than November 2025, which will enable it to have a personality that behaves like GPT-4o. At the time of writing, ChatGPT's model is GPT-5 , but immediately after its release in August 2025, some users expressed dissatisfaction with the lost human-like nature of GPT-5, saying, 'GPT-5 lacks personality compared to GPT-4o,' and 'GPT-5 no longer responds in a human-like manner.'

The new version of ChatGPT appears to be able to respond more like a human, using a large number of emojis and behaving like a friend. Altman also said that in December 2025, ChatGPT will introduce more comprehensive age restrictions, allowing verified users who have been verified as adults to respond with erotic content.
Altman said, 'We need to continue to learn how to protect the small minority of users who are mentally vulnerable, and once we have the tools to do so, adults who are not at risk for mental breakdown or suicide should have full freedom in how they use ChatGPT.'
For sure; we want that too.

Almost all users can use ChatGPT. however they'd like without negative effects; for a very small percentage of users in mentally fragile states there can be serious problems.
0.1% of a billion users is still a million people.
