In a press release, AMD stated that its partnership with Meta aims to 'rapidly scale AI infrastructure and accelerate the development and deployment of cutting-edge AI models.' As part of this, AMD will provide Meta with its AMD Helios architecture, with the first 1GW deployment expected to begin in the second half of 2026. The solution will be built with custom AMD Instinct GPUs based on the company's MI450 architecture. It will also use AMD's EPYC CPU 'Venice' and ROCm software.

AMD Chairman and CEO Lisa Su confirmed the partnership with Meta as a 'multi-year, multi-generational collaboration.' Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg also stated that the partnership is long-term. Zuckerberg mentioned plans to achieve 'personal superintelligence,' hinting at the company's AI strategy.

AMD also said that Meta will be the lead customer for 6th Gen AMD EPYC CPUs and next-generation EPYC processor 'Verano.'

The deal also includes a significant equity incentive. AMD is issuing up to 160 million performance warrants to Meta, which will vest upon the achievement of certain milestones in the shipment of Instinct GPUs. The warrants will vest at $0.01 per share. The first warrants will vest upon the first 1 GW shipment, with additional warrants vesting as Meta acquires more computing power.

The terms of this agreement, which provides for the company's own shares in exchange for its own GPUs, are similar to the one AMD and OpenAI signed in October 2025.

According to the Wall Street Journal , the contract size is over $100 billion (approximately 15.6 trillion yen), and even 1 GW would result in sales of tens of billions of dollars for AMD.

Meta announced its partnership with NVIDIA just a week before this announcement.

'The difference with the NVIDIA deal is that it includes a customized GPU at the outset,' said Ben Bajarin, a chip analyst at Creative Strategies. 'These deals highlight the fact that Meta is short on compute resources, and we're likely to see deals being struck between Meta and all sorts of companies.'
