Apps aimed at boycotting American products surge in Denmark's App Store, reflecting backlash against Trump's claim to Greenland.

Following U.S. President Donald Trump's assertion that Denmark has sovereignty over the autonomous Danish territory of Greenland, anti-American sentiment has been growing in Denmark. Meanwhile, a mobile app that 'checks whether a product is made in the U.S. and suggests local alternatives' has reportedly skyrocketed in popularity in the Danish App Store and Google Play Store in recent days.

According to technology media TechCrunch, a survey by market research firm Appfigures found that two games, ' NonUSA ' and ' Made O'meter ,' ranked in the top 10 download rankings for January 2026 on both iOS and Android.
NonUSA is an iOS app designed to help users boycott American products in their daily lives. Users can scan product barcodes and check the product's country of origin on their iPhone. It also suggests Danish alternatives to purchase. NonUSA was ranked 441st on January 9, but rose to 6th on January 20, and to 1st the following day, January 21.

Like NonUSA, Made O'Meter allows users to identify where a product was made and what brand it is simply by taking a photo of the product. Available for both iOS and Android, Made O'Meter is currently ranked fifth in the App Store.

According to TechCrunch, the average daily downloads of NonUSA and Made O'Meter's iOS and Android versions increased by 867% compared to the previous week, or about 9.7 times in one week.
Of course, the number of daily downloads on the App Store in Denmark is significantly lower than in larger markets like the US, but the antipathy towards the US in Denmark is evident in the app download rankings.
'It's easy to point out the irony of using an American app store to download apps onto an American phone in order to boycott American products. But Danish consumers seem willing to accept this contradiction if it means expressing their dissatisfaction with the overall situation facing their country,' Apple-related news outlet 9to5Mac said.
