Trump Mobile announced the launch of its gold-colored smartphone, the T1, in June 2025, along with a mobile phone service for Americans with access to 5G networks. The back of the T1 featured the American flag and was heavily promoted as being 'designed and made in America.'

The T1 was priced at $499 (approximately ¥78,000), with a $100 deposit required to purchase. However, supply chain analysts and industry experts pointed out that it would be impossible to manufacture a smartphone using only American-made parts, given the company's heavy reliance on Asian suppliers for its existing smartphones.

A few weeks after the announcement, Trump Mobile retracted its initial claim of being 'Made in America' and revised it to say 'Designed with American values in mind.' It also made changes to specifications like display size and RAM, and pushed back the release date from 'September 2025' to 'sometime in 2025.'

On December 31, 2025, the Financial Times and other media outlets reported that the T1 would not ship in 2025 after all. According to Trump Mobile's customer service team, the shipping delay was due to the US federal government shutdown that lasted from October 1 to November 12, which delayed the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) response. The customer service team told Fortune, 'We've been told that the phone will ship in mid- to late January.'

Trump Mobile is also selling used Apple and Samsung devices even before the T1 shipments have begun. Trump Mobile is selling used iPhone 15s, released in 2023, for $629 (approximately 99,000 yen) and used Samsung S24s, released in 2024, for $459 (approximately 72,000 yen).

In addition, when checking the T1 sales page published at the time of writing, it only said, 'When we release the T1 Phone later this year, you'll be the first to receive it!' (When we release the T1 Phone later this year, you'll be the first to receive it!) The exact shipping date was not stated.

Android 16 was released in June 2025, but the T1 still ran Android 15.
