LG CLOiD is a household robot designed to perform and coordinate household chores between home appliances. LG CLOiD aims to realize a 'zero-labor home' by reducing the time and effort required for daily housework. LG CLOiD is based on LG's mobile AI home hub, the LG Q9 , and the smart home platform, ThinQ .

LG CLOiD is a robot that can perform various household tasks, such as taking milk from the refrigerator, putting croissants in the oven to bake, loading laundry into the washing machine, folding the laundry, etc. These tasks are possible because LG CLOiD has the ability to understand the user's lifestyle and precisely control home appliances.

LG CLOiD is a robot consisting of a head unit, a torso with two articulated arms, and a wheeled base with autonomous navigation capabilities. The torso can be tilted to adjust its height, allowing it to pick up objects above knee height.

The arm has a range of motion comparable to that of a human arm, with the shoulders, elbows, and wrists able to move forward, backward, left, and right, as well as rotate. The hand has five fingers, each of which can be independently controlled, allowing for fine manipulation. This allows LG CLOiD to handle a variety of household items and perform household chores in a variety of places, including the kitchen, bathroom, and living room.

The wheeled base incorporates the self-driving technology LG has developed for its robot vacuums and the LG Q9, and is designed with a low center of gravity for stability, safety, and cost-effectiveness, reducing the risk of tipping over even if children or pets come into contact with it.

LG CLOiD also functions as a mobile AI home hub, with a chipset, display, speaker, camera, various sensors, and voice-based generative AI. The combination of these elements enables the robot to communicate with humans through spoken language and facial expressions, learn about the user's living environment and patterns, and control connected home appliances.

LG CLOiD's core technologies are the Vision Language Model (VLM), which converts images and videos into structured, language-based understanding, and the Vision Language Action (VLA), which converts visual and language input into physical actions. These models have been trained on tens of thousands of hours of in-home task data, enabling LG CLOiD to recognize home appliances, interpret user intent, and perform a variety of actions, such as opening doors or moving objects.

LG also announced the launch of 'LG Actuator AXIUM,' a new brand of actuators for robots. Actuators, one of the most important and costly components in robots, are widely recognized as a strategic upstream technology in the era of the rise of physical AI.
