M1-equipped MacBook Air continues to work after being hit by shrapnel



While there have been rare but

reported cases of smartphones in chest pockets blocking bullets , a new case has been reported in which a MacBook Air with an M1 battery saved a soldier from shrapnel. The MacBook Air was hit directly by shrapnel and still functioned after being damaged.

@lanevychs , a soldier with the Azov Brigade of the Ukrainian National Guard, posted a photo of his MacBook Air that was hit by shrapnel on January 1, 2026. He said, 'The M1-equipped MacBook Air stopped the shrapnel.'

You can see that the shell fragments have penetrated the display and reached the keyboard.
