US November game console sales hit lowest number since 1996

The report on the slump in game console sales was made by Mat Piscatella , senior director at market research firm Circana . A graph posted by Piscatella on Bluesky showing the average price and sales volume of game consoles for November each year shows that while prices are on the rise, sales volume was at 1.6 million units, the lowest since 1996.

According to Piscatella, the average price of a game console was $235 (about 37,100 yen) in November 2019, but increased to $439 (about 69,300 yen) in November 2025. Meanwhile, the number of units sold was 3.9 million in November 2019, but 1.6 million in November 2025.
