Google Gemini app lets you distinguish between Google's AI-generated videos, we tried it out

Google has announced that it has expanded its content transparency tools, allowing users to upload videos to Google Gemini and check whether the video was edited or created by Google AI.

Verify Google AI-generated videos in the Gemini app

To actually try it out, I first generated a video using Google Veo 3.1 as shown below.

Then, after changing the file name of the video, they uploaded it again to Google Gemini via the web version and asked, 'Was this generated by Google AI?'

The response I got was, 'The video you provided was generated by Google AI.'

This uses a technology called ' SynthID ' announced by Google in 2023. SynthID is a technology that embeds an invisible digital watermark into images and videos generated by AI, and from November 2025, Gemini will also be able to determine whether an image was AI-generated. However, it did not work properly during testing at the time of its announcement.

It seems that the 'Gemini' app can now distinguish between Google's AI-generated images, so I tried it out - GIGAZINE

According to Google, Gemini scans both audio and video tracks for embedded SynthIDs, provides context through its own inference, and reports segments containing Google AI-generated elements. Uploaded files can be up to 100MB in size and 90 seconds in length. SynthID authentication is available in all languages and countries supported by the Gemini app.
