4o Image Generation, released on March 26, 2025, can generate highly accurate images by utilizing GPT-4o knowledge, and can also improve the quality of the generated images while interacting with AI.

To address this situation, OpenAI is testing adding a watermark to the generated images. AI researcher Tibor Vlaho discovered that the beta version of the ChatGPT app for Android, version 1.2025.091 2509108, contained the phrase 'image-gen-watermark-for-free.'




Also, since it says 'for-free,' it seems that only users who use ChatGPT's free plan will have the watermark. Users who subscribe to a paid plan can save images generated by 4o Image Generation without a watermark by selecting 'Save image without watermark.'




In addition, since this test is only a beta version, it is unclear whether OpenAI will actually introduce watermarks to 4o Image Generation.
