According to DownDetector, which provides information on the status of services, X began experiencing issues from just after 6 p.m. on March 10, 2025. The first wave of issues subsided within about an hour, but connection difficulties occurred from around 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. and again from midnight to 3 a.m. on the 11th.

Shortly after Musk's post, the hacker group Dark Storm announced via Telegram that they had launched a DDoS attack against X. As evidence of their attack, Dark Storm also posted screenshots of a real-time status page showing how attempts to connect to X around the world were failing.
Dark Storm is a pro-Palestinian hacker group formed in 2023. Recently, it has warned of cyber attacks targeting the websites of governments of Israel, countries that support Israel, and NATO countries.
In addition, Musk, who appeared on a FOX news program, explained that the attack was from an IP address originating from Ukraine, suggesting that the Ukrainian government was behind the attack. As mentioned above, Dark Storm is a pro-Palestinian group, but its ideology regarding Ukraine is unclear, so it is unclear whether Musk's assertion is correct.
