Apple has long been rumored to be developing a foldable iPhone, given that the company filed a patent for a 'foldable electronic device' in 2017 and has co-developed a foldable OLED display with LG.

Recently, the talks have become quite concrete, with Apple saying it plans to release a foldable iPhone in 2026 .

Guo said that this 'foldable iPhone' will have a 5.5-inch display when folded and a 7.8-inch display when unfolded. There are two folding directions: horizontal (fold on the short side) like Samsung's ' Galaxy Z Fold ' and vertical (fold on the long side) like the ' Galaxy Z Flip ,' but it will have a 'book-shaped design' that folds horizontally.

The thickness of the device is 9mm to 9.5mm when folded and 4.5mm to 4.8mm when unfolded, and it will be equipped with a front camera and a dual-lens rear camera that can be used both in the folded and unfolded state.

In addition, instead of Face ID, Touch ID using the side button is expected to be adopted to save space.

The expected price is more than $2,000 (about 300,000 yen) and could reach $2,500 (about 370,000 yen), but Guo predicts that 'if the quality meets expectations, even the premium price will generate strong replacement demand.'
