According to the news site Bloomberg, Coristin was employed as a software engineering intern at Path Network, an Arizona-based hosting and data security company, from April to June 2022.
A Path Network spokesperson said, 'We can confirm that Mr. Coristin's short-lived contract has been terminated following the completion of an internal investigation into confidential information leaks that occurred concurrently with Mr. Coristin's tenure at the company,' acknowledging that confidential information leaks occurred during Mr. Coristin's tenure.
Bloomberg reported that a company executive sent a message saying, 'Edward was fired for leaking inside information to a competitor. This is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.'
On the other hand, Bloomberg also reported that after he was fired, Coristin posted on Discord that 'I had access to all the machines (while I was employed at Path Network),' 'I could have wiped the customer support server if I wanted to,' 'But I never abused it,' and 'I didn't do anything wrong under the contract.' The post was not under Coristin's name but under the name 'Rivage,' but six acquaintances of his said it was a fake name.
It has been pointed out that Mr. Coristin is a former member of a channel called 'The Com,' which functions as a criminal social networking site on Discord and Telegram. Path Network is a company that hires people who originally worked as black hat hackers but later turned to white hat hackers , so it is possible that Path Network hired Mr. Coristin because they thought he was a 'skilled hacker.'
