Introducing the open source notebook PC 'anyon_e' with its own unique case and keyboard, equipped with a 4K OLED display and mechanical keyboard for gaming

A new laptop called ' anyon_e ' has been released, with all of its parts and design drawings open source. The anyon_e is equipped with a 'detachable thin mechanical keyboard' and a '4K OLED display,' and is said to have the specs to run Minecraft at 60fps.

The person sitting in the lower right corner of the image below is the developer, Brian Fan. Fan is a student at the prestigious boarding school ' Philips Exeter Academy ' and developed anyon_e as his graduation project.

The logic board, trackpad, OLED display, battery, etc. of anyon_e are all commercially available. The OLED display is 13.3 inches in size and has a resolution of 4K.

The logic board uses the development board '

CM3588 ' equipped with Rockchip's SoC ' (PDF file) RK3588 '. The RK3588 has an Arm processor ' Cortex-A76 ' and a GPU ' Mali-G600 MC4 ' built in, as well as a 6TOPS NPU.

I also designed the case myself using CAD software.

The design of the hinge part was apparently based on that of Framework, an open source laptop development company.

Fan is also a keyboard enthusiast, and he designed the keyboard for anyon_e himself.

We put a lot of effort into the feel of the keyboard, and we use the ultra-thin mechanical key switch '

Cherry MX Ultra Low Profile ' sold by Cherry, a well-known manufacturer of mechanical keyboard key switches. By using a thin switch, we were able to design a thin keyboard that has the feel of a mechanical keyboard.

The completed anyon_e looks like this.

The keyboard is removable. It has a built-in battery, so you can remove it and use it as a wireless keyboard.

Removing the keyboard exposes the inside.

anyon_e runs Linux and can even play Minecraft at 60fps.

You can see anyon_e in action from 22 minutes and 44 seconds in the video below.
