Musk is known as a self-proclaimed hardcore gamer, and during an appearance on the podcast 'Joe Rogan Experience,' he spoke about how he ranked in the top 20 in the world at 'Diablo IV's' end content, 'The Pit.'

Recently, Musk has been hooked on Path of Exile 2, a hack-and-slash game like Diablo IV, and he also streams the game on X. In Path of Exile 2, he has reached level 95 in the hardcore mode, a high difficulty mode where your progress is reset if you die once. However, gamers who have checked out his stream suspected that Musk was boosting because his skill did not match his level.

Streamers Casual Kripp and Quin69TV , who stream Path of Exile 2 games, also pointed out that Musk was boosting, criticizing him, saying, 'It looks like he's playing Path of Exile 2 for the first time,' and 'He doesn't even seem to have basic knowledge of how the game's loot progression system works.' Even the Wall Street Journal , a financial newspaper, has covered Musk's boosting allegations.

YouTuber NikoWrex then published a direct message exchange between Musk and X. In the DM, Musk admitted to boosting in Diablo IV and Path of Exile 2, and said he didn't need to apologize because everyone does it.

When NikoWrex asked, 'Did you level boost or buy gear or resources in PoE2 (Path of Exile 2) or Diablo IV?' Musk replied, '100%,' with an emoji, adding, 'You can't beat Asian players unless you boost them like they do!'

In addition, when NikoWrex asked, 'Regarding PoE2, did you intend to take over all the level-ups in hardcore mode as your own achievements?', Musk replied, 'Yes,' and 'I never said that. Top accounts in Diablo and PoE need to play accounts with multiple people to win the level-up race.' Furthermore, when asked if he would apologize for misleading the Path of Exile 2 community, he replied, 'What am I apologizing for?'

In addition, Grimes, a musician and former lover of Mr. Musk, said in X, 'As a matter of personal pride, I would like to state that my children's father (Mr. Musk) was the first American Druid to finish with the highest score in the United States at the Zia demolition yard in Diablo. He also ranked in The Battle of Polytopia and beat Felix in the game. I saw these things with my own eyes. There are other witnesses who can attest to this. That's it,' claiming that Mr. Musk's own playing skills were the reason for his ranking in the world of Diablo IV.
