Meta is planning to cut
According to Windows Central and CNBC, the contents of Zuckerberg's internal memo are as follows:
'Meta is working to build some of the most important technologies in the world - AI, glasses as the next computing platform, and the future of social media. This year is shaping up to be an intense one, so we want to ensure we have the best talent on our team.
I have increased the level of performance management and encouraged low performers to leave earlier. Typically we take a year to weed out those who aren't meeting expectations, but in 2025 we will be making more extensive performance-based cuts with the aim of filling these roles.
'If we are optimistic about future performance, we will not fire everyone who did not meet expectations in the previous period. If we do ask them to leave, we will provide them with generous severance packages, as we did with previous headcount reductions. We will provide more detailed guidance to managers prior to any adjustments. We will notify affected individuals of the transition on February 10, 2025.'
While Meta has maintained its overall platform user base, it has recorded large losses in its AR/VR division.
