Altman's sister, Annie, filed a lawsuit against Altman in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri on January 6, 2025. In her lawsuit, Annie alleges that Altman sexually abused her regularly between 1997 and 2006.
According to court documents, the sexual abuse took place in the Altman family's Clayton , Missouri, home, and began when Altman was 12 and Annie was 3. The abuse allegedly occurred several times a week, beginning with oral sex and later penetrative sex, and as a result Annie 'experienced severe emotional distress, mental anguish and depression,' the documents state.
Annie's lawyer is Ryan Mahoney, who specializes in sexual abuse and harassment. Mahoney commented, 'We commend Annie for her strength and courage in coming forward as a sexual abuse survivor, and we will fight on her behalf to get the justice she deserves.' In this lawsuit, Annie and others are seeking a jury trial and more than $75,000 in damages.
In response, Altman, his mother and siblings issued a joint statement denying Annie's allegations.

The statement said Annie had previously faced mental health issues and that her family had provided financial, housing and medical support out of concern for her well-being, but she continued to ask for more money and increasingly made false allegations against Altman and other family members.
Among the false allegations that Annie has made so far are that she 'misused her late father's defined contribution pension' and 'hacked her Wi-Fi and blocked her from ChatGPT and Twitter (now X).'
'At first, Altman and his team refrained from publicly refuting the allegations out of consideration for Annie's privacy and that of her family. But now that legal action has been officially filed, they have been forced to make a statement,' they explained.
In a statement, Altman and his wife said, 'All of these allegations are false. This situation has caused great pain to the entire family, especially when she refused conventional medical treatment and became abusive toward family members who were genuinely trying to help her. We ask for your understanding and compassion as we continue to support Annie in the best way we can. We sincerely hope that she finds the stability and peace she is seeking.'
