The legendary book 'Little Red Book', which was distributed to employees in 2012 to convey the spirit of Facebook, is now available to download for free

In 2012, when Facebook's user base exceeded

1 billion , it was becoming difficult for CEO Mark Zuckerberg to share his vision with the entire company due to the rapid expansion. In the midst of this, Facebook decided to share Facebook's purpose and culture by compiling their vision into a booklet called the 'Little Red Book' and distributing it to employees. Matthew Parkhurst, CEO of cloud service company Antimetal , who obtained the 'Little Red Book,' has made the full text available online for free and for anyone to download.

The Little Red Book is a booklet created by designer Ben Barry that codifies Facebook's vision with striking photographs and messages. Parkhurst said of the Little Red Book, 'This book is a manifesto that condenses Facebook's philosophy of breaking things down, thinking big, and moving fast. It's more than a handbook, it's a declaration of identity that solves the problem of 'scaling culture in explosive growth.' It reminded employees, 'This is who we are, why we exist.''

There are very few copies of the Little Red Book left today, and most of the scanned images on the Internet are low resolution. Parkhurst wrote that he had been searching for the Little Red Book on eBay for several years, and finally got hold of the original a few weeks ago, so he decided to make the high-resolution digital version available for free.

The digital version of the Little Red Book is 148 pages long and has a bright red cover with the words 'Facebook was not originally created to be a company.'

This is followed by black and white satellite images of lights twinkling at night across the US and Europe.

The next page continued, 'It was built to accomplish a social mission - to make the world more open and connected.'

The double page spread features a powerful message, 'CHANGING HOW PEOPLE COMMUNICATE WILL ALWAYS CHANGE THE WORLD,' alongside a photo of an old-fashioned printing press.

This is followed by some striking photographs, including cave paintings, hieroglyphics, church paintings and messages on the Berlin Wall.

And a photo of the Facebook post displayed on a smartphone.

The campaign continues to use photographs to convey messages such as, 'People want to connect with others,' 'Connections are the foundation of society,' and 'People are more important than data.'

There are also pages with slogans like 'Focus on the big problems,' 'Focus on helping the most people,' and 'Focus on impact.'

The spread reads, 'WE DON'T BUILD SEVICES TO MAKE MONEY; WE MAKE MONEY TO BUILD BETTER SERVICES.'

The Little Red Book is a stylish little booklet that gives a glimpse into Facebook's vision for the company in 2012 and the work attitude it expects from its employees.
