I tried using the chat mode of 'Answer with AI' added to the web browser 'Brave''s own search engine 'Brave Search'

Announcing chat mode, a conversational chat experience that expands the ability of Brave Search and its Answer with AI | Brave

The 'Answer with AI' feature was introduced in April 2024 as a feature that generates answers for almost all search queries from information from multiple sources, without relying on search engines such as Google or Bing.
Brave Search, which processes approximately 10 billion queries per year, now has a privacy-focused AI answering engine | Brave
For example, type 'Akira Kurosawa films' into
This performed an AI search, and a list of 'films directed by Akira Kurosawa' compiled by the AI was displayed above the regular search results.
In chat mode, you can ask further questions and search further based on the context. I tried asking an additional question in the search box below the AI search results: 'Which actors appear most in his movies?'
The names that were output were Toshiro Mifune, Takashi Shimura, Tatsuya Nakadai, Minoru Chiaki, and Kamatari Fujiwara.
Answer with AI officially supports English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish, but it doesn't seem to support Japanese. However, when I searched for 'films directed by Akira Kurosawa,' it was properly listed. However, the knowledge panel on the right side of the screen displayed the number '5,' which has nothing to do with Kurosawa.
In addition, when we asked 'Which actors appear frequently?', the Japanese version listed more people than the English version. However, as the explanation says 'The following actors have appeared in films directed by Akira Kurosawa', this version does not list people who have appeared in many films, and even people who have appeared in only one film, such as Richard Gere from 'Rhapsody in August' and George Tokoro from 'Not Yet', are listed.
Brave claims that by introducing chat mode, it 'combines the best of both worlds: regular search and chatbots.'
For example, here are the results of typing 'Andrew Garfield' into the search box. The left is Brave Search, the right is Google Search, and you can see that either one will give you roughly the information you're looking for.
Below are the results of asking 'how many bees are in a typical colony?' in chat mode. Brave Search on the left and ChatGPT on the right. Brave Search lists the relevant references in multiple literature and papers, and seems to provide a clearer answer.
It is unclear whether or not there will be official support for other languages, including Japanese, and when.
