I tried the 'Oni Curry Set' served at the Ryuo Tournament Ibaraki match and the popular 'Tirapuri' which is also a gift for hometown tax donations.
The fourth game of the 37th
The menus offered to both players were selected in advance by the ' Ryuo Sen Ibaraki Match Meal Menu Book Project ' and will be available at the store from November 1, 2024 to January 31, 2025. This time, I had the opportunity to eat some of the menus selected by both players at the game, so I went to eat them.

The venue for the game, Onikuru, is a public complex that opened in November 2023. In addition to the Japanese-style room where the game took place, it also includes a hall used for live commentary, a library, a planetarium, and a children's support center.
The 'OniKuru' mark looks like a spiral with horns growing out of it.
On the day of the match, a banner announcing the Ryuo Tournament and the players was hung in front of the building.
◆Ibaraki Oni Curry Set
For lunch on the second day, Ryuo Fujii chose the 'Ibaraki Oni Curry Set' from

The shop is located at 8-17 Motomachi, Ibaraki City. The nearest station is Hankyu Ibaraki-shi Station, and it is located in an alley one block north of the Ibaraki Hankyu Hondori Shopping Street on the west side of the station.
The location is here.
The 'Ibaraki Oni Curry Set' looks like this.
The main dish is 'Spicy Pork Curry' made with '
The other is dal, a bean soup that is more widely eaten in Nepal than curry.
In between is chutney, a paste made from homemade chili peppers. The curry is not spicy so that even children can eat it, but those who want it spicier can adjust the spiciness to their liking with the chutney.
In Nepal, it is common to mix and eat side dishes, so first pour the curry and dal generously over the rice. If you pour it all over at once, it may overflow from the plate, so it is necessary to adjust the amount just right.
This pork curry is characterized by the large chunks of meat it contains, making it very filling.
The crunchy texture of the lotus root is also nice.
This is dal. Compared to curry, it has a lighter soup-like texture, and the gentle flavor of the beans melts into it. It flows smoothly into your stomach, just like ochazuke.
If you want something more spicy, just add a bit of chutney. This spoon has a large amount on it, but it's better to add a little at a time to find the amount that suits your taste.
Chicken tikka made from chicken marinated in spices and cooked in a tandoor oven.
There are no bones, so you can eat the whole thing. It has a chewy texture and the meat juices ooze out, so it not only goes well with rice, but also makes you want to drink alcohol.
Jiraal is potatoes seasoned with cumin and other ingredients. This side dish has an exquisite taste of fluffy potatoes.
Pickled vegetables such as carrots seasoned with spices can also be mixed into the dal.
The Ibaraki Oni Curry Set is available for eat-in at 1,870 yen including tax.
The regular menu looks like this. In addition to basmati rice, you can choose Japanese rice, naan, or tandoori roti with the curry set.
Please check the restaurant's official Instagram for details of the daily curry and limited-time special menu items.

◆ Onikuru Tirapuri
For his morning snack on the first day, Ryuo Fujii chose ' Tirapuri ' from the Ibaraki main branch of pudding specialty store Ufupurin .
The shop is located at 7-27 Eidaicho, Ibaraki City, about a 3-minute walk from the north side of Hankyu Ibarakishi Station.
The exterior of the store looks like this.
The bottled 'Tirapuri' doesn't crumble when you carry it around, and it has a lid so you don't have to worry if you can't finish it all at once. It's the most popular item in the store, and is also highly popular as a local gourmet gift in Ibaraki City's hometown tax return gift program.
The name 'Tirapuri' comes from the fact that it combines the best of 'tiramisu' and 'pudding,' and when you open the lid, it certainly feels like tiramisu.
First, the bittersweet cocoa powder and sweet pudding cream combine in your mouth, bringing out the rich sweetness and making you feel like you are eating a luxurious pudding.
Digging deeper, you'll discover a dough soaked in plenty of espresso, combining the best of tiramisu and pudding for an even more delicious experience in your mouth.
'Tirapuri' is priced at 734 yen including tax. It can also be purchased through the official online store.

◆Ibaraki City Flower: Rose Fresh Sweets
Sasaki Yuki, 8th Dan, ordered Kasho Sekishu's 'Ibaraki City's Flower, Rose Fresh Confection' three times in a row: as a morning snack, afternoon snack on the first day, and morning snack on the second day.
The shop is located at 2-20 Motomachi, Ibaraki City.
On the west side of Hankyu Ibarakishi Station, head west along Hankyu Ibaraki Hondori Shopping Street, heading towards Ibaraki Shrine, and turn left at the Ibaraki Shinsaibashi Shopping Street along the way.
Then there is a store.
Roses were also on sale as one of the 'seasonal fresh sweets.'
There is no eat-in space, so I bought some and took it home.
The whole thing is made of smooth bean paste, giving it a refined sweetness. I have the impression that it goes best with green tea, but Sasaki Hachidan paired it with lemonade, so that combination might also be good.
The menu book includes 12 'game meals,' 12 'sweets,' and 10 'drinks.'

There is also a list of stores that unfortunately did not make it into the menu book but thought they were the best, so be sure to stop by if you are visiting Ibaraki City.
