In a separate lawsuit over smartwatch design, a Delaware jury found that Masimo's previous models of smartwatches, the W1 and Freedom, and chargers, willfully infringed Apple Watch-related design patents, and awarded Apple the statutory minimum damages of $250.

However, the jury found that Masimo's current products do not infringe Apple's patents, and did not issue an injunction to block the sale of Masimo products, as Apple had hoped.

Masimo said the ruling was 'almost in every respect in favor of Masimo and against Apple,' as it applies to discontinued products. 'Apple sought to stop the sale of Masimo's current products, but the jury's decision was a victory for Masimo on this issue,' the company said in a statement.

'We are pleased that the jury's decision today protects the innovation we are advancing for our customers,' Apple said in a statement.
