The eero Outdoor 7 is a device that extends your indoor Wi-Fi network outdoors. It supports Wi-Fi 7 and is dual-band, 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Some of Eero's indoor devices are compatible with 6GHz, but the eero Outdoor 7 does not support 6GHz. Eero's CEO explains that 'there are significant limitations to using 6GHz outdoors.'

The eero Outdoor 7 is equipped with one 2.5GbE PoE port, and the maximum communication speed is 2.1Gbps wirelessly. It can cover a distance of up to 15,000 square feet (about 1390 square meters), and it can communicate at speeds of several hundred Mbps even at a distance of 800m.

The operating environment is -40°F to 131°F (-40°C to 55°C), and the dust and water resistance standard is IP66. It has been durability tested in various climates, from the heat of Arizona to the cold of Alaska, in commercial refrigerators, on the beach, and in a tunnel with winds blowing at about 160 km per hour. Eero introduced that it can be safely installed outdoors all year round.

Potential use cases include streaming movies to an outdoor projector, connecting security cameras, providing Wi-Fi for a shed at the end of your garden, or even updating the software for your car parked in your garage.

The eero Outdoor 7 is Eero's first outdoor expansion device, and the CEO explained the background to its development, saying, 'Customers have repeatedly asked us, 'I keep all my Eero devices outside, but don't you have a device specifically for outdoor use?' There was a lot of demand for an outdoor product.'

At the time of writing, it is scheduled to be sold only in the United States, and the Canadian version will be released soon. The price will be $ 349.99 (about 53,000 yen) or $ 399.99 (about 61,000 yen), and it will be sold on the Eero official website and Amazon from November 13, 2024.
