◆ Synopsis of the first half of Episode 8 of 'The Part-Time Life of a Hero and a Corporate Slave'
Kuzuru is a hero from the world of 'Konam'. Although he is recognized as a hero because of his origins and talents, he himself is a weak, stubborn, cowardly, and irresponsible hero.

Although he was a poor hero, Kuzuru was supported by his excellent companions and performed his duties as a hero, but he encountered a powerful monster and suffered a crushing defeat. Immediately after feeling his life was in danger, Kuzuru was transported to a completely unfamiliar world, modern-day Japan.

Kuzuru, who was sinking in despair after losing his friends and hometown, was picked up by a beautiful woman named Valkyrie who was at the event venue. Valkyrie offered to give him work and he stayed the night, so Kuzuru went along with her, but ended up being exploited as a corporate slave at the ultra-black game company where Valkyrie works. Furthermore, someone came to pick him up from Konam, and in the end, Kuzuru ended up living a very tough dual-career life: 'a corporate slave in modern Japan during the week, and a hero's work back at Konam on the weekends.'

After that, his part-time job became training to gain knowledge and strength, he somehow became friends with a succubus who had infiltrated the company to threaten the hero, he defeated a doctor from the Demon King's army who was deceiving him with false prognoses about his remaining life expectancy, and he suffered a painful experience when he tried to defect to a white-collar company and the Demon King's army. Although busy, he lived a fun and peaceful life.

But one day, when he wakes up at work as usual, he sees a report on the TV news about the appearance of monsters. Kuzuru is able to travel between modern Japan and the other world, Konam, thanks to a special magic, so monsters from around there shouldn't be able to come here.

The trouble continues when one of Kuzuru's companions, Flare, falls ill with a serious illness that even healing magic cannot cure. The truth is that it's influenza, a disease that shouldn't exist in Konam.

The trouble itself was minor and was easily resolved. However, some mysteries remain. At that time, Valkyrie, Kuzuru's boss, speaks to him. What shocking things will the mysterious world, hero, and mysterious beautiful boss reveal?

◆GSC members only bonus: Episode 8, Part 1 Making of
Episode 8 is an important episode that marks the beginning of the final chapter, so there are a few creative aspects to the production. First of all, the first page was a frame showing 'Kuzuuru reacting to the news,' as shown in the image on the left below. This was good because it made it easy to see Kuzuuru's surprise, but in Episode 8, we wanted to create an atmosphere that wasn't too comical, so we changed it to only showing the news screen.

The change in impression caused by the detailed direction can also be seen on the second page. In the first panel below, before the correction on the left, only the upper body of a character named Fallon emerges from a warp gate, but on the right page, almost the entire body is drawn. The change was made because it felt more powerful to have the whole body jump out and hug the person. Also, on the corrected page on the right, a character who was not on the page before the correction appears. Isn't it obvious at a glance that it's the flu? Based on this point, the decision was made to 'bring in the monster doctor,' which appeared in episode 6. Also, by depicting the virus around the line 'It's the flu,' an ingenious measure was taken to ensure that important lines were not lost.

The following page is also an important change in direction. The exchange 'Do you know something?' 'Yeah, I'm the big sister who knows everything' remains the same, but after the edit on the right side of the image, a cut to Walküre's eyes is added, giving it a much tighter impression.

Similarly, on the following page, just before the panel where she reveals her secret, 'Because I...', there is a shot of Valkyrie's eyes, which acts as a pause. In this way, even with the same flow of conversation, the impression changes greatly depending on the panels that are placed in between.

And the most important scene in the first half of Episode 8 has been changed as shown below. On the left is before correction, and on the right is after correction. Drawing a character's feet is difficult and tedious, so it is often omitted, but that is why a frame that clearly depicts the entire body can create an impressive scene.

We also considered several ways to end the story on the final page. On the left side of the image, the illustration is interesting, but the last words to read are 'Geso...', which is a bit of a waste. We also considered a self-parody of the first episode, as shown in the center of the image, but in the end, we decided to draw the dialogue and reaction together so that the words 'hyper concurrent work' would stand out at the end.

Finally, here is an alternative design for the front page. The heroic Kuzuru reflected in the office window is a stylish design, but we have changed it to the original version to prioritize clarity as a front page illustration.
