X's service recovery is delayed because the bank transfer account for the fine imposed in Brazil was incorrect.

It has been reported that after X (formerly Twitter) was ordered by the Brazilian Supreme Court to pay a large fine, the company agreed to pay the fine, but the Brazilian Supreme Court has refused to allow X to resume its services because the bank account to which the money was transferred was not valid.

The issue began when Brazil's Supreme Court ordered X to pay a fine for refusing to delete accounts that were allegedly spreading fake news.

X, which refused to pay the fines, closed its offices in Brazil, but the Supreme Court ordered that X's services be suspended unless the company paid a total of 28.3 million reais (approximately 740 million yen).

Elon Musk, the owner of X, appealed the Supreme Court's decision, but X later announced that it would comply with the Supreme Court's decision, deleted the account, and showed a positive attitude toward paying the fine.

Because X did not immediately comply with the court order, the fine was increased by a surcharge, and as of September 2024, the fine that X had to pay had ballooned to 28.3 million reais (approximately 740 million yen) .

X's lawyers demanded that the fine be paid and that services in Brazil be resumed on Thursday, September 26, 2024. However, Supreme Court Judge Alexandre de Moraes stated that 'the fine was not paid to the designated bank,' and announced that he would postpone the decision on whether to allow services to be resumed in Brazil.

The Supreme Court also stated that 'the decision as to whether X can resume services in Brazil will be left to the Attorney General of Brazil,' so it is unclear whether X will be able to resume services promptly even if it pays all of its fines correctly.
