'Firefox 131' official release, background tab preview display function added to make it easier to find tabs



The official version of the web browser ' Firefox 131 ' has been released. It now shows previews when you hover over inactive background tabs, and temporary permissions can now last up to an hour.

◆ Previews are now displayed when you hover over background tabs
Hover over inactive tabs to see a preview, making it easier to find the tab you want without having to switch tabs.



◆ Temporary permissions now last up to 1 hour
When a site requests permission to use your location information, you can give temporary permission by clicking 'Allow.'



To the left of the address bar, you can see the list of permissions you've granted to a site, and revoke permissions. Starting with Firefox 131, if you grant temporary permissions, they will last for an hour or until you close the tab.



◆ The icons for the tab list display function will be updated.
The button icon for the vertical list of open tabs feature has been updated.



Changes for developers
- Added support for text fragments .
- 'SVGGraphicsElement.nearestViewportElement' and 'SVGGraphicsElement.farthestViewportElement' have been removed.
- Cookies that do not have 'SameSite=None' and Secure attributes will now be rejected.
- Added support for Partition Cookie (CHIPS) .

◆Other changes
- The initial selection of the translation function now takes into account the last language used.
- The translation function now supports Swedish.

Firefox 131 also includes several security bug fixes .

The next major version, Firefox 132, is scheduled to be released on October 29, 2024 local time.
