The company exhibiting the diamond manufacturing machine is Henan Huanghe Whirlwind, a China-based company that is the world's largest manufacturer of diamond manufacturing equipment.
There are two ways to make artificial diamonds: the high pressure and high temperature (HPHT) method, which is the same as natural diamonds, where graphite is pressed at high temperature and pressure, and the chemical vapor deposition (CDV) method, which deposits hydrogen gas or methane gas. Henan Yellow River Whirlwind sells HPHT machines on Alibaba.
Thanks to these machines, it has become relatively easy to make diamonds for lasers with a diameter of 10 cm. Hacker News user Animats, who discovered the machine, commented, 'Diamonds can now be bought in bags by the kilo.'
