Starlink changes course to block X in Brazil

Starlink, a satellite communications service

that had refused to take measures to block access to X in relation to a Brazilian Supreme Court order to suspend X's services in the country , has now reversed course and revealed that it intends to block access to X in accordance with the Supreme Court's order.

The post on Starlink's official X account begins with 'To our customers in Brazil (you may not be able to read this as X has been blocked by Judge Moraes ),' revealing that while the company has been subjected to illegal asset freezing, it has complied with the Supreme Court's order to block access to X.

Starlink initially refused to block access to X, saying it would not comply with the Supreme Court's order until the assets were unfrozen.

No one has stated why Starlink changed its policy in just one day, so the circumstances are unclear, but in a post, Starlink stated, 'We will continue to explore all legal options together with those who share our belief that Judge Moraes' recent order violates the Brazilian Constitution,' indicating that they will continue to fight back.

According to Anatel, Brazil's telecommunications regulator, Starlink has already begun blocking access to X.

In the first place, the reason why X was blocked in Brazil was due to a conflict between Judge Moraes of the Brazilian Supreme Court and Elon Musk, the owner of X. It has been pointed out that Judge Moraes may have been too powerful and may have been acting out of control, but a subcommittee consisting of five of the 11 judges of the Brazilian Supreme Court unanimously approved the order to block X.

Regarding the dispute over X, Brazilian President da Silva said, 'I hope the world will learn that we have no obligation to tolerate Elon Musk's far-right ideology just because he is a billionaire,' indicating his support for the decision of Judge Moraes and others.
