Samsung's Odyssey 3D is equipped with special hardware called a lenticular lens, which delivers images to the user's left and right eyes at slightly different angles, creating the illusion of depth in the image.

The monitor also has a camera for eye tracking, and 'view mapping' technology that allows the monitor to continuously adjust the image to enhance depth perception. According to Samsung, the combination of these tools and technologies allows users to enjoy 3D images with depth without having to wear 3D glasses.

Below is a video of the Odyssey 3D experience by overseas media XDA. By tracking the user's gaze with two cameras mounted at the bottom of the screen, the 3D image is displayed appropriately even when the user moves.

'We are pleased to launch our glasses-free 3D gaming monitor at Gamescom, the world's largest gaming exhibition,' said Hoon Chung, executive vice president of Samsung's Visual Display Business Team. 'Samsung is committed to leading the high-end gaming monitor market by continuously developing cutting-edge technologies that enhance the gaming experience.'
