Google Chrome starts displaying warnings for Manifest V2 extensions such as uBlock Origin that they will no longer be usable
Google Chrome, which is in the process of migrating extension specifications from 'Manifest V2' to 'Manifest V3,' has begun displaying a warning to Manifest V2 extensions, such as uBlock Origin, that they will 'soon be deprecated.'
Google Chrome warns uBlock Origin may soon be disabled
In 2020, Google announced 'Manifest V3,' a new method for Chrome extensions. By June 2024, more than 85% of extensions will support 'Manifest V3.'
In order to move to 'Manifest V3', Google will begin phasing out 'Manifest V2' from June 2024. Starting June 3, 2024, users who have installed the 'Manifest V2' extension in Chrome distributed on the Beta, Dev, and Canary channels will be notified that the installed extension will no longer be supported.
According to the news site BleepingComputer, Google has also started displaying a message to users who have the Manifest V2 extension installed, warning them that it will soon be deprecated and encouraging them to search for alternative extensions in the Chrome Web Store.

However, I installed uBlock Origin on my Chrome version 127.0.6533.89 and checked it, but no significant message was displayed.
Also, when I tried it on the Chrome Web Store, even when I searched for 'uBlock Origin', 'uBlock Origin Lite' was displayed first, but there was no indication that 'uBlock Origin' would soon become unavailable.

By the way, although 'uBlock Origin Lite' supports Manifest V3, it is not exactly the same extension as uBlock Origin, so it will not automatically replace uBlock Origin if it becomes unavailable. Users will need to install the alternative extension themselves.
