TechCrunch reported that when you search for 'X' or 'Twitter' in the Mac App Store, the official X client app no longer appears. The URLs to the individual pages in the app store are no longer working for the English version , but the Japanese version is still working at the time of writing.

Several users have reported that the Mac version of X-Apps has disappeared from the Mac App Store since around August 1, 2024.

Although you can run iPad apps directly on a Mac , there have been reports on social news site Reddit that installing the iOS version of X's app (or more precisely, the iPadOS version) on a Mac results in the suspension of accounts. Although the exact cause is unknown, it has been pointed out that some iPad apps have not been verified for macOS, and it is not possible to determine whether the device on which the app is installed is a Mac or some other jailbroken device, which may have led to the suspension of accounts.

TechCrunch has reached out to X but has not received a response at the time of writing.

Many users have complained about the Mac version of X-Apps being buggy, and the app itself hasn't been updated for nearly a year.
