Amazon Clinic is a virtual healthcare service launched by Amazon in November 2022, allowing users who receive prescriptions online to have their medications delivered to their home through Amazon Pharmacy.

Meanwhile, One Medical is a primary care service that integrates face-to-face consultations and medical apps. Amazon announced plans to acquire One Medical in 2022 and officially completed the acquisition in February 2023.

Amazon has announced that it will merge Amazon Clinic and One Medical under a new name: Amazon One Medical. Amazon One Medical users can now choose between 'One Medical Pay-per-visit,' where they pay for each online consultation, or 'One Medical Membership,' where they can receive face-to-face primary care at any of the more than 150 One Medical offices across the U.S.

Pay-per-visit allows doctors to get one-time consultations for over 30 health concerns, from acne to COVID-19 to erectile dysfunction. Online consultations via text message cost $29 each, and video calls cost $49 each.

Patients are required to pay appropriate medical expenses in addition to this amount. Insurance is not accepted or required, but payment by health insurance (FSA/HSA) is possible.

On the other hand, membership-based primary care services, which involve visits to a physical office, allow patients to receive annual health checks from their family doctor and receive health management through in-person or remote consultations for conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure.

The annual fee is $199 (approx. 32,000 yen), and Amazon Prime members can receive a discounted fee of $9 (approx. 1,500 yen) per month or $99 (approx. 16,000 yen) per year. Amazon Prime members can also add up to five family members for $6 (approx. 1,000 yen) per person per month or $66 (approx. 10,000 yen) per year.

Amazon explained the difference between the two options: 'Pay-per-visit is ideal for customers who don't live near a One Medical office or who already have a primary care doctor but need a quick appointment for a temporary symptom. Meanwhile, One Medical Membership is ideal for customers who live near an office and need help managing their overall health, as it provides same-day or day-ahead primary care.'
