As the rainy season has begun nationwide, we have started a half-price sale on the manga 'Ame Ame Fure Fure Usoyandé'

On June 21, 2023, the Japan Meteorological Agency

announced that the rainy season had begun in the Kanto-Koshin, Tokai, and Kinki regions. This year, Okinawa, which entered the rainy season the earliest, entered the rainy season three days later than last year and 11 days later than the average, but the rainy season began more than two weeks later than last year in the Kanto, Tokai, and Kansai regions, and the Kanto-Koshin region announced that the rainy season had begun the third latest in history. As the humid days will continue from now on, we have started a half-price sale of the full-color comic ' Ame Ame Fure Fure Usoyande, ' in which 'a girl who loves rain searches for a rain-free sunny day with a rain-hating rain man.' Please take this opportunity to read it and think about the sound of rain once again.

◆What is the story of 'Rain, rain, it's a lie'?
'Ame Ame Fure Fure Usoyande' is a story of about 200 pages, with most of the story taking place in the rain. The title logo also features raindrops and a Teru Teru Bouzu.

The reason it rains throughout the film is not because it's the rainy season, but because of a boy named Kai who is said to be a 'disaster.' Kai is a 'rain man' who has been certified by a national agency as a 'severe human disaster,' and hates rain because it rains wherever he goes and lives. On the other hand, the main character Nao doesn't feel bad about the continuous rain, and he even hums along to it.

Kai has just transferred to the school, and Nao pays him attention, but he responds coldly. Kai spits out that he hates rain and seems to be cold towards people around him.

Kai reveals his secret to Nao, who continues to pester him. He is a 'disaster' known as the Rain Man. Being a Rain Man is not just a superstition or rumor, but a powerful curse that has made him someone who has never seen the sun in his life. Because he causes heavy rain wherever he goes, he is not allowed to live freely without a government watchman.

Nao confesses his serious problem of being a rain man and is rejected, but he cannot forget Kai's sadness and pain, and continues to attack without giving up. If he hates the rain, then just make it stop. If it won't stop, then just go somewhere where there is no rain. He wants to show the sun to Kai, who says he has never seen the sun before.

So Nao and Kai try every method they can think of. They hang up a Teru Teru Bouzu doll, pray for a sunny day at a shrine and offer 80 yen as an offering. If that doesn't work, they try flying through the rainclouds, or searching for a 'sunny man' who has also been recognized as a 'disaster' in order to fight and win against the formidable 'rain man' curse. The time limit is only two weeks, during which Kai, the rain man, is allowed to stay in the same place.

◆ Making of the Logo Jack
As an announcement project for the rainy season sale, we are planning to jack the title logo of GIGAZINE, which we also did when the comic was released. Below is an example of a past implementation, in which Nao and Kai appear in the logo displayed at the top of the top page where GIGAZINE articles are lined up. Clicking on the left half of the logo will take you to the GIGAZINE top page as usual, but clicking on the right half where the characters are will jump to the article you are currently reading.

The character illustration that hijacks the logo was drawn by the original author, Torataro.

The character for the logojack was drawn by Torataro based on the design proposal, but there were other design proposals. The first one is below, in which the 'GI' and 'NE' of GIGAZINE are painted over with rain and an umbrella is placed over the 'GI'.

The other one features a Teru Teru Bouzu (a rain doll) based on each character that appears in the work. In the end, the proposal to add the characters to the logo was selected, but these two proposals may also be used somewhere.

The full-color comic 'Ame Ame Fure Fure Usoyande' is available exclusively on Amazon's Kindle. If you are a Kindle Unlimited member, you can download it for free at any time, and it is on sale for a limited time until the end of the rainy season, so please take this opportunity to pick it up.
