I tried McDonald's three new European-style burgers: 'German Potato Thick Beef', 'Pepero Juicy Hot Chicken' and 'Bouillabaisse-style Shrimp'

McDonald's has released new burgers, ' German Potato Thick Beef ,' ' Pepero Juicy Hot Chicken ,' and ' Bouillabaisse-Style Shrimp ,' for a limited time from June 26, 2024. The new menu is a collaboration with the popular children's novel '

Kiki's Delivery Service ' to appeal to 'Europe,' so we tried eating them to see what they tasted like.

This time in Europe! Three new products are here! 'German Potato Thick Beef', 'Peperoni Juicy Hot Chicken', and 'Bouillabaisse-Style Shrimp' will be available for a limited time from Wednesday, June 26th | McDonald's Official

I bought German potato thick beef (520 yen including tax), peperon juicy hot chicken (450 yen including tax), and bouillabaisse style shrimp (470 yen including tax). The burger wrapper has Kiki and Jiji from 'Kiki's Delivery Service' on it.

German potato thick beef looks like this. You can see the patty with black pepper, cheese and onion slices.

Here's a comparison of the size with a transportation IC card. The buns are not round, but square.

When I flipped the bun over, the beef patty was topped with cheddar cheese, mustard sauce and sliced onions.

Under the patty is German potato filling.

The patty, spicy with black pepper, is matched with the rich German potato filling, and the rich flavor of the cheddar cheese is added. The crunchy onion slices add a nice accent. The mustard sauce is mild, but a little too mild, and it seems to be overpowered by the flavor of the black pepper and cheddar cheese.

Next, I will try the Peperon Juicy Hot Chicken.

There is only lettuce between the buns and the chicken. The white aioli sauce on the lettuce is a garlicky mayonnaise sauce with coarsely ground black pepper.

The hot chicken batter is seasoned with red chili peppers, leaving a tingling heat in your mouth. The heat of the chili peppers and the aroma of the black pepper from the aioli sauce were strong, but perhaps because the mayonnaise made it mellow, the garlic flavor wasn't very strong. The crunchy hot chicken and the crunchy lettuce were a fun combination, and the portion was quite filling.

Bouillabaisse-style shrimp looks like this.

The shrimp cutlet is topped with lettuce and aioli sauce.

Also, bouillabaisse sauce was applied under the shrimp cutlet.

When I tried it, the bouillabaisse sauce, the umami of shrimp, and the flavor of aioli sauce spread in my mouth. The shrimp cutlet had a crispy batter and a firm texture inside. The bouillabaisse sauce was a sauce made by adding the umami of seafood to tomatoes, and I felt that the sourness of the tomatoes brought out the strong umami.

German potato thick beef, peperon juicy hot chicken, and bouillabaisse-style shrimp will be available for a limited time at McDonald's restaurants nationwide from Wednesday, June 26, 2024. However, please note that bouillabaisse-style shrimp will not be available in Fukuoka and Saga prefectures.
