Lindroid, a native, hardware-accelerated Linux operating system on Android, is in development

Engineer

Erfan Abdi is developing a project called Lindroid , which aims to run Linux apps on Android devices.

Abdi's project, Lindroid, is a project to run fully hardware accelerated Linux as an app on Android. Abdi also said, 'Linux on Android runs in a container and has access to real native hardware.'

Below is an example of Lindroid actually launching. What's unique about it is that a PC-like window and app launcher called ' Kickoff ' appear on the small screen of a smartphone.

Lindroid's default and recommended window manager is

KWin , but it has experimental support for other X Window System (X11) compliant window managers.

You can also use Lindroid to run Linux-based operating systems such as Ubuntu touch , Droidian , and Plasma Mobile .

In addition, when connected to a Linux computer, it supports multi-display and multi-input, and can also run Android desktop mode .

At the time of writing, Lindroid only supports the Android-based LibreMobileOS .

'My personal goal is to make Linux useful and easy to use for everyone. I hope to see the Linux mobile community develop even more in the future,' said Abdi.

Abdi developed Lindroid as open source, and the source code can be viewed at the following link.
